Cabo San Lucas Fishing Trip
Earlier this year, my friends and I traveled to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico — a place where the ocean feels endless and life revolves around the natural beauty of the outdoors. For someone like me, who has always felt most at home outside, surrounded by nature, this trip was more than just a vacation. It was a reminder of how important it is to respect, enjoy, and protect the environment that gives us so much.
One of the biggest highlights was going marlin fishing. We set out early one morning, the salty breeze in our faces and the sun just beginning to rise over the Pacific. After hours of patience, teamwork, and a lot of excitement, we finally landed a marlin — an experience that felt almost surreal. Holding that fish, I couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of gratitude. I’ve always believed in practicing sustainable fishing, and on this trip, we made it a priority to fish responsibly, honoring local guidelines and only keeping what we knew we would fully use.
That evening, we grilled the marlin ourselves and used it to make some of the freshest fish tacos and ceviche I’ve ever tasted. There’s something really special about preparing a meal that comes straight from the ocean, especially when you’ve been part of the entire process — from the catch to the plate. It makes you appreciate the natural world on a much deeper level.
Trips like this aren’t just about adventure; they’re about connection — with the water, the land, and the people you share it with. Being outdoors, fishing sustainably, and respecting the ocean’s resources are not just hobbies for me — they’re part of who I am. Cabo San Lucas reminded me once again why it’s so important to protect these experiences for future generations.

Thanks for taking me along on your trip to Cabo. I appreciate your sensitivities about sustainable fishing. More people need to be aware. Right now certain kinds of commercial practices are totally unsustainable and threats to the marine environments.
