Out West | Part 1: Waste Management
It started with a group chat and a half-joking “What if we just rented an RV and drove to the Waste Management Golf Tournament in Scottsdale?” Instead of the usual banter, this time everyone replied fast.
“I’m down.”
“Let’s do it.”
“When are we leaving?”
So it was set. Me and 6 of my closest friends rented a slick white RV—big enough to sleep us all but small enough to test our friendships. We loaded it with coolers, snacks, questionable playlists, and a full tank of diesel. The plan? Dallas to Scottsdale one day, with no stops or detours so we could make it to the tournament in the morning.
We rolled into Scottsdale just after midnight.
First stop: brunch. Second stop: golf course. Third stop: pool. It felt like a reward, not just for the miles, but for the way we all just clicked out there in the desert. No phones, no schedules—just a bunch of friends chasing the road and soaking up the ride.
We parked the RV at the Airbnb like it was a trophy. For the next few days, we lived like kings— hitting the town, lounging by the pool, telling the same stories from the drive over and laughing harder each time. Before long, it was time to head back home.....

You are quite a writer. You should think about a book someday. Loved the phrase
ReplyDelete"we parked the RV like it was a trophy." I also found a certain irony in Waste Management supporting a golf tournament. Enjoyable blog post.
