Out West | Part 4: Alien Abduction

This next stop was pure chaos—and completely worth it.

Roswell, New Mexico. UFO murals, alien-shaped street lamps, a gas station that sells freeze-dried ice cream. We pulled the RV into the parking lot of the International UFO Museum and Research Center, laughing but also… kinda curious.

We spent a solid two hours wandering through alien “evidence,” grainy UFO photos, and really passionate explanations from a man named Carl who definitely believes. We bought matching alien t-shirts. One friend bought an alien plushie named Gary. Gary now lives in the RV dashboard, watching over us like our extraterrestrial guardian.

That night we found a nearby campsite and told fake alien abduction stories around a fire. Someone swore they saw lights in the sky (ME). Someone else swore it was just an airplane. We’ll never know.

  1. Thanks for the description of your Roswell tour. Loved your last line. Roswell is a strange place, and alien in its own way. I have passed through it many times on my way to NM's White Mountains but never explored its sights. Great photos. Your blog posts are engaging.
