Out West | Part 5: Homeward Bound

The last leg of the journey was a blur of desert roads, gas station snacks, and road trip nostalgia. We were sunburned, slightly broke, and maybe smelling like a mix of firewood and beef jerky—but we were also closer than ever.

Pulling back into Fort Worth felt surreal. The city buzzed around us like we’d never left, but we’d all changed just a little. The RV was filled to the brim with sand, our playlists were worn out, but our camera rolls? Legendary.

We mapped out our route to make it back just in time for the Super Bowl, but of course we were not even close. Had to take a pit stop at the nearest Hooters to watch the Eagles put on a master class.

We returned the RV with a dent in the bumper, some suspicious white sand in the air vents, and Gary the alien still clinging to the dash. The rental guy gave us a look. We just smiled.

Because the trip wasn’t just Fort Worth to Scottsdale. It was the Grand Canyon sunsets. It was alien museums. It was dune sledding and fire-side stories and all the weird, wonderful things in between.

We didn't just take the long way home—we made it unforgettable..
